The second session was on “Addressing Molecular Physics with Lasers & Ion Beams” by Dr. Jyoti Rajput, Associate Professor, Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi. She gave important information regarding dissociation dynamics, lifetimes, spectroscopy, photo-absorption properties of molecules and molecular ions using experimental techniques.
2016-2017
This year ASF started its journey with the lecture by Prof.V.K. Tripathi, from IIT, Delhi on 17th February 2017 on "Radiation due to free electron". The annual fest "AAVEG" was held on 7-8th March, 2017 with about 15 events including technical events like robo race, science quiz and paper presentation and non-technical events like tug of war, treasure hunt, lan gaming and JAM all of which served their purpose by bringing out the unlocking of the minds of all. Event like brain twister got the attention of all, blowed the minds of many, but hit the trigger of mind of few. Five students of B.Sc.(H) Physics VI semester who visited Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) on the occasion of National Science Day on 28th February 2017won the quiz competition at IUAC. In continuation with the Lecture Series a talk on "Energy Harvesting"was given by Prof. Vinay Gupta, Department of Physics, University of Delhi focusing on present day needs of energy and new ways to harvest it. Ms. Rakhi Seth of B.Sc (H) Physics VI sem. has been awarded Summer Research fellowshipof two months by IASc-INSA-NASI at NPL Delhi with Dr. Rajiv Kumar during Summer 2017.
2015-2016
-
The inaugural lecture of the society was delivered on 18th August, 2015 by Associate Professor, Dr. J.P.Singh from IIT Delhi on "Nanobiomimmetic sensors fabricated by using glancing angle deposition". A General Science quiz and an intradepartmental group discussion on Euthanasia were organized in the month of September and Oct, 15 resp.
-
AAVEG, the two days Science Festival, began with the student activities like Paper Presentation, Impedance, Coding and Group Discussions followed by Science Quiz on the second day. The students got an opportunity to show several science projects in the Science exhibition, as a part of Science festival, on 26th and 27th February, 2016. The projects displayed were on water level sensing, obstacle detection, radar and automatic corridor light on and off system etc.
-
Five students, namely Nisha, Shivam Paliwal, Yogesh, Arjun Kumar and Ashish Bisht of B.Sc.(H) Physics VI semester visited Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) along with faculty member on the occasion of National Science Day on 28th February 2016 .
2014-2015
-
Aryabhatta Science Forum inaugural function took place on 19th September 2014 well attended by the faculty members and students of Department of Physics. The activities on the day included a lecture each in the morning and evening session with student activities in the afternoon session. Details of the events on the day are given below :
-
The forum organized a lecture on “Role of Nanotechnology in shaping 21st century” by Dr. S. P. Singh, an eminent scientist from NPL. The students got a deep insight into the research developments in nanotechnology and its impact on society.
-
Thereafter a lecture was delivered by Dr. R. S. Dhaka, Associate Professor, IIT Delhi, on “What can we learn from Photoemission Spectroscopy”. The lecture provided the students a knowledge of how spectroscopy is used in current research to identify the materials and their defects profile.
-
The forum organized science quiz open to students of all streams under the guidance of Dr. Kulvinder Singh, Dr. Manish and Mansi, which saw an overwhelming response of students. Five top teams were selected through MCQ screening round and preliminary round. Nisha, Yogesh and Shivam of BSc (H) Physics II Year won the quiz competition.
