Raaga: The Dance Society, DDUC began the year with an Orientation program and induction of new members.

The society organized an orientation program for 2021-22 batch of freshers in an online mode, on 23rd November 2021. The program started with an introduction to the society by Convenor, Dr. Priya Goel. She briefly explained about the functioning of dance society in the college. Further, with the help of a video presentation, Society President, Raksha Goel, explained the working of the dance society of the college, the online practice sessions, workshops conducted and the sequence of events throughout the year. Attendees also had a glimpse of the previous years’ events i.e., participation of Raaga society students in various TV shows like DANCE+ season 4 on Star Plus, intra-and inter-college events and National events. Students were apprised of the audition process, joining the WhatsApp group and social media presence - the YouTube videos made by students of the Society and the Instagram handle of society. Attendees gave an overwhelming response to the Dance society in the form of messages in the chat box/comment section that were taken up by the Society office bearers at the end of the session.

Further, auditions of new members were started w.e.f.1st December, 2021 in two rounds. In first round, held in both online and offline modes, students presented a video recording (online) and dance performance (in offline mode) on song and dance style of their own choice. Council members acted as judges and the shortlisted students were called on second round. The second round was impromptu round in which the participants were asked to perform on a specific song and dance style. The results were announced on 25th December 2021.

A national online Hip-Hop dance workshop was organized on 29th December 2021 for students across the country, passionate to learn dance forms. One of the college alumni, Mr. AKSHAY BHARDWAJ was invited to showcase his talent and guide all the beginners in hip hop dance style and share his experiences with all students. The Zoom workshop began with a brief about Raaga-the Dance Society by Convenor, Dr.Priya Goel, followed by introduction of the resource person by Kanishka, the society council member. The Resource person interacted with audience and taught some basic steps of hip hop dance style taking up hindi and english songs. Around 48 students attended the session. 

This hands-on session received overwhelming responses from participants in the form of messages written in the chatbox. The responses from the participants and all their appreciation messages marked the success of this event. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Raksha, the society president. A feedback form was shared with all the attendees and e-certificates were issued to all the participants.

2017-2018
 
The society began its activities with an Orientation and Auditions on August 1, 2017. Members of the society actively participated in various events and competitions throughout the year at various colleges of University of Delhi – Lady Irwin College; Sri Venkateswara College; Mata Sundari College; Jesus and Mary College; Gargi College; Satyawati College; Deshbandhu College; Swami Sharadhhanand College; Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam (ARSD) College; Zakir Hussain College. The society also performed at other institutions like Bhartiya Vidyapeeth (Paschim Vihar); Gear of Dance (University of Delhi); Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (Dwarka); Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (Rohini); BFAB Urshilla Dance Company; AIIMS (New Delhi); Mood Indigo (IIT Mumbai); IIT Kanpur; BML Munjal University (Gurgaon); Ambedkar University (New Delhi); Symbiosis Colllege (Noida,UP); Lal Bahadur Institute of Management (New Delhi).
Achievements:
  • 2nd prize at Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (in both Talent Show & Group Dance)

  • In Top 8 at Delhi Dance Fever
  • 3rd prize at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology
  • 2nd prize at Ramanujan College (Delhi University)
  • 3rd prize at BML Munjal University
  • 3rd prize at AIIMS Pulse 2018
2016-2017
 
The choreography team actively participated in various Intracollege / Intercollege / Outstationcultural events and competitions throughout the year. The team won the following prizes this year:
  • secured first position in Lakshmibai collegeAnnual Fest .
  • Secured second position in the dance competition held at Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology
  • secured 3rd position at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology
  • invited for a performance at the cultural award ceremony of the Educom society of Aiwan-e-Ghalib college. 
2015-2016
 
The choreography team brought laurels to the college by winninga number of positions in inter college competitions held across universities. The team on 9 prizes with following positions during the academic session:
  • First position in Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS), Pilani 
  • First position in Management Education and Research Institute(MERI) ; 
  • Second position in Delhi Institute of Advanced Studies(DIAS), 
  • Second position Vivekananada Institute of Professional Studies(VIPS),
  • Second position Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management Studies ,
  • Second position Vande Matram 2016, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, 
  • Second position New Delhi Institute of  Management Studies (NDIMS) 
  • Third position in Jagannath Institute of Management Studies(JIMS) and 
  • Third position IITM Group of Institutions.

2014-2015

The Music & Dance Societies of the college, in collaboration with the Culture Council, University of Delhi organised the ninth edition of Pan –DU Classical Dance and Choir Competitions where over 20 colleges of the university participated. Miss Malvika Sharma of Janki Devi Memorial College, Ms. Gayatri P. Nair of our college and Miss Elisha Garg of Gargi College won the first, second and third prizes respectively in the classical dance competition. In the choir competition, Sri Venkateswara College, IP College for Women and Shaheed Rajguru School won the first, second and third prizes respectively.  These societies  along with Yavanika the theatre society  and Photogrpahy Club earned the college lots of laurels at several inter-college festivals including the BITS Pilani, IIT-Kanpur.
