History of Alumni Association of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College :

Our college completed 10 years in the year 2000. It seemed to be the appropriate time to establish contact with our former students. The faculty and staff of the institution that nurtured them for three years felt inquisitive to know where they are and what are they doing. Also, it was thought that the former students would want a forum through which they can revive and relive the memories of those good old days spent in the college and once again spend time with their old college friends and keep in touch with them in future. It was therefore decided that we start an Alumni Association of the former students with a view that it would provide a meaningful platform for future interaction among all the ex-dduc students. With this idea, an Alumni Committee of the Staff Council of the College was formed in the session 2000 – 2001 to establish the 'Association'. The committee included six faculty members. The work, which was initially presumed to be very simple, turned out to be mammoth. It was decided that to begin with the students could become members’ five years after leaving the college. It was felt that a student needs to about 4 to 5 years to settle down in a career or chalk out a future course of life before wanting to come back for a reunion.

The records were dug up and In the first phase of its launch, the committee members sent out approx.750, letters to ex-students of all streams of four batches of our students who passed out in 1993 till 1996 association.

The Alumni Association got launched formally on November 24th, 2001 when the first meeting cum get- together was held. Around 70 former students attended the function. The students fondly remembered their teachers and shared their achievements with them. They also shared their excitement on having received the letter of invitation to join the Alumni association of the college. The nostalgia was palpable and the students spontaneously broke into songs.

The Alumni Association Executive met formally for the first time on the 29th of December 2001 in the college premises. In their inaugural meeting, they invited all the teaching staff of the college for a get together. Over cups of tea and light snacks, the ex-students who were playing hosts this time around once again relived old memories with their teachers. Many More students were enrolled on the Alumni rolls. The ball had started rolling and the Alumni association was not only on its feet but taking firm steps ahead.
