Annual report of activities of Music & dance society for the year 2021-22 

 
 
JULY 2021 - DECEMBER 2021
 
Rhapsody-the Music Society, DDUC began the year with an Orientation program and induction of new members. Due to the ongoing Pandemic, the society conducted its online orientation “Rhapsody 2021” on 23rd November 2021 at 10:00 am. Orientation marks the successful beginning of a college session for the society and orients the students toward their studies while following their passion. The orientation started with a brief introduction by Convenor, Dr. Priya Goel, followed by detailed description by the Vice President of music society, Jitesh Arora, through a power point presentation. He explained the vision of the society, working of the music society and past achievements. Few recorded performances by our society members were also played during the session, which were enjoyed and heartily praised by all the attendees. The later part of the presentation informed the freshers about the audition process to join the society and regular conduct of practices in a blended manner i.e. both online and offline practice sessions. Students attending the session gave an overwhelming response in the form of messages in the chat box, creating a vibrant and positive atmosphere. The session ended with taking questions from the audience.

Students participated in some online and offline events organized at state and national level in academic organizations.

Student achievements:

Sameer Bamanier – 2nd Position in the National event ‘Voice of Rendezvous’ held on 20th March 2021 at IIT Delhi.

Further, auditions of new members were started w.e.f.1st December, 2021 in two rounds. The results will be announced on 21st December 2021.

2017-2018

 

 
The society organized its auditions on July 31, 2017 and August 01, 2017 followed by orientation and workshops. These drills have ensured laurels for the members of the society in various inter college events. Nikita Kundra and Sarthak Mody of B.A. English Hons; Rohan Menon, Tushar Bhatt, Bhavya Mehta and Shubham Chawla of B.Com; Sourodeep Ghosh of Maths Hons; Hrithik Rawat of B.A.; and Shubham Sharma and Nikhil Chugh of B.Sc Computer Science represented the college in various music events including AIIMS (Pulse’18); OP Jindal (Biswamil); VIPS (Spandan); IIT Kanpur (Antaragni); Manav Rachna University (Xenia); IIT Delhi (Rendezvous); MAMC (Goonj); Ambedkar University; LSR College and JDM College. 
 
FLIP was established in 2017, originally a six-piece band famous for its versatile skills of the various musicians of the band namely, Nikita Kundra, B A (H) English, 3rd year as the Western Vocalist of the band, Sourodeep Ghosh, B.Sc. (H) Mathematics, 1st year as the Indian Vocalist, Rohan Menon, B.Com. ( Hons), 3rd year as the guitarist (Electric Guitar ), Shubham Chawla, B.Com. (Hons), 2nd year as the Rhythm Guitarist (Acoustic Guitar) and Hrithik Rawat, B.A. (Programme), 2nd Year as Bass Guitarist. Their genre of music is Experimental Fusion.

2016-2017
 
Rhapsody (nee Rhythm)- The Music Society
In the year 2016-2017, the students participated actively in various Intracollege/Intercollege/ Inter University cultural events and competitions throughout the year such as Bits PilaniRajasthan, Chitkara University-Baddi, IIT-Roorkee, IIT-Delhi, LSR-Delhi, NSIT, Symbiosis, AIIMS, IHM-Faridabad and various other DU and NCR colleges. Alankar - the band of music society (Tushar Bhatt, Shubham Sharma, RohanMenon, Swaraj, Ashmeet, Nikita, ShubhamChawla, Nikhil and Rishu) got admirations for participating in various inter college music events. Some of them made teams with students of other colleges and won prizes in Battle of bands. Some of the achievements and star performers who brought laurels to the music society and the

  • Participated actively in various DU fests with Commendable Performances.
  • Achieved Grade 7 Degree in Western Vocals Exam, which is affiliated to Trinity College of Music, London
DivyaKumari –,B. Sc (H) CS III year got 1st prize in Duet singing,LSR
Ajay Dhruv –,B . Sc (H) Chem III year secured second position in RajdhaniCollege,DU, Second Position in IIT Roorkee
Prem Kumar-,Bsc (H)- Chem II Year got First Position in Zoology Honours Fest and Various Commendable performances in other colleges
Bhavya –,B.Com.(H)- I year got 3 rd Position in Intercollege Western Solo Singing Competition in DDUC and commendable performances in festivals of AIIMS and Chitkara.

2015-2016
 
Alankaar – the band of music society (Tushar Bhatt, Shubham Sharma, Ashutosh , Aditya Ray, Rohan Menon, Swaraj Kulshrestha, Rishi Panda)won III position in Tarang, Competition held at BITS Pilani  in January,2016.The students got admirations for participating and winning thirteen prizes in various inter college singing events during 2015-16:
  • Nikhil Chugh got I prize in DJ Wars at Jamia Milia Islamia.
  • Ashutosh  BSc. (H) Maths  VI sem  won 7 prizes in solo singing competitions with following positions:
    • I prize in solo singing competition at Maulana Azad Medical College, 
    • I prize Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, 
    • II prize at NSIT, 
    • II prize BITS pilani,
    • II prize Materyi  
    • II prize in duet singing at Maulana Azad Medical College 
    • IIIprize at Jamia Milia Islamia.

  • I prize  at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women in western solo singing competition 
  • II prizein western solo singing at Symbiosis Law School, Noida.
 
2014-2015
 
The Music & Dance Societies of the college, in collaboration with the Culture Council, University of Delhi organised the ninth edition of Pan –DU Classical Dance and Choir Competitions where over 20 colleges of the university participated. Miss Malvika Sharma of Janki Devi Memorial College, Ms. Gayatri P. Nair of our college and Miss Elisha Garg of Gargi College won the first, second and third prizes respectively in the classical dance competition. In the choir competition, Sri Venkateswara College, IP College for Women and Shaheed Rajguru School won the first, second and third prizes respectively.  These societies  along with Yavanika the theatre society  and Photogrpahy Club earned the college lots of laurels at several inter-college festivals including the BITS Pilani, IIT-Kanpur.
