Economics make human welfare its direct and primary concern. In the words of My. Durbin "Economics is the intellectual religion of the day"

 

The Department of Economics started right since 1990 has been catering to the needs of Economics in B.A. (one out of the four subjects) and also the elective papers in various courses at different times. In the year 2014, subject society –‘Aarthneeti’ was formed with Dr. B.L. Pandit (former DSE professor) as our patron. Since then, society organizes lecture on then relevant economics topic and /or Economics Fest, in each academic year. In the current system of CBCS, Economics department offers Generic Elective papers in Economics to students of all courses.
