  • Students of B.Sc (Hons.) Zoology Semester VI were taken for a one day Training Workshop on “Zebra Fish: Model System” organized by Department of Biochemistry & Zoology (by Dr. Chitra Bhasin), Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi. The visit was arranged by Dr. Sudhir Verma. Twenty eight students and six teaching faculty attended the workshop.
  • Educational visit to Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), CSIR was organized by Dr. Sudhir Verma along with Dr. S.N.   • Biochemical characterization of bacteria collected from different marine ecosystems in order to obtain alternative feed supplements for aquaculture

  • Project title: Investigation of the cellular signaling impact of sodium butyrate and benzyl isothiocyanate in gastric cancer cells
  • Dose-dependent and time-dependent cytotoxic/ anti-proliferative effects of sodium butyrate and benzyl isothiocyanate on AGS cells
  • Apoptotic effects of these drugs on AGS cells using Annexin V-FITC and propidium iodide staining
  • Activity of redox sensitive signaling pathways/ transcription factors (i.e. NF-kB, Nrf2/1, HIF-1α) on treatment with these drugs on AGS cells using dual luciferase reporter assays.

  • Project title: Studies on Circadian Variation in Secondary Metabolites Composition and/ or Concentration in commonly used Medicinal Plants of Delhi using HPLC Fingerprints and its Socio-economic Impact
  • Diurnal variations in the concentration of secondary metabolites i.e. coumarins, tannins, flavonoids, saponins and steroids etc. at different time points (Day, night, dawn and dusk) in common medicinal plants of Delhi region e.g. Aloe, Murayya and Ocimum were tested using biochemical tests and HPLC
