CAREER COUNSELING AND PLACEMENT CELL (CCPC) 2020-21

Final Placement and Internships: During the academic session 2020-21 organizations like Willis Tower Watson, Jaro, Chegg, TresVista, ICICI prudential, Wipro, Startup CA, Mckinley and rice, CX Ventures, NatWest Group (RBS), Digiversal, L&T Constructions, Decathlon Sports India, WrittenlyHub, DE Shaw, Genpact, Eash, Reading Right, Evangel Publishing, EY GDS, Cvent, Drishti IAS, Vitana Private Limited, Optum, FIS - Google process, Vahdam by seekho associated with our college and offered final placements to 81 students. Final result of a few of the companies is yet to come.

More than 150 students got internships in leading companies. Result of few companies is still awaited.

To facilitate students, the placement cell organized following workshops, seminars, career counseling and training sessions by prominent resource persons.

  • May 19 - 20, 2020: The Placement Cell successfully organized its first ever Virtual Internship Fair 2020. There were 35+ companies on board providing 50+ diverse profiles like - App Development, HR, Data Analytics, Marketing and Sales, etc.
  • May 26, 2020: KVCH conducted a webinar on Business Communication. KVCH is the largest training provider in the industry. KVCH specializes in providing Information Technology and Management Training. The webinar entailed insights on the following:
  • Body Language Basics
  • Business Etiquettes
  • Business Writing
  • Goal Setting and Getting things done
  • Job Search Skills
  • Interview Skills
  • Time and Stress Management
  • Email Writing
  • Presentation Skills

The speaker for the webinar was Ms. Aparna Saxena who is a Senior Corporate Trainer. The webinar was open to all the courses and years. We had an overwhelming response and saw a footfall of 80+ students. The students were also provided with e-certificates. It was an interactive session and ended on a positive note.

  • May 30, 2020: Younity organised a webinar on CV building. Younity is a Pan-India Student Community that aims to build a team that can work together, learn together and grow together providing a means to catch hold the right opportunity for personality development. The speaker for the session was Mr. Prafful Garg, founder and CEO of BOOKMYPG and YOUNITY. He has been dignified with the REX-Karmaveer GYLC Award 2019 (Institute by United Nations) at IIT-Delhi. He has been an impactful speaker at various events at Delhi University. 50+ students across different courses attended the session. The session was really informative and interactive and the students got an opportunity to build an exemplary CV.
  • May 31, 2020: Younity conducted its second session on LinkedIn Profile Building. The Placement Cell received numerous feedbacks about how unique this session was and helped students a lot in making an ideal LinkedIn profile.
  • June 08, 2020: The Placement Cell conducted a session on GD-PI Preparation for all the courses and years. The key topics covered were

The speaker for the webinar was Mr. Daksh Sethi. He has been known for connecting with the Student Community in a very engaging manner. He is an expert in Life Coaching, Career Counseling, Body Language Training, Group Discussions and Personal Interview Training. He believes in an extremely practical approach to his Mentorship and Consulting Sessions. 40+ students registered for the webinar and found it really insightful.

  • June 12, 2020: The Placement Cell in association with Non Engineers conducted a Q&A Session to get real insights on CAT Preparation. The students were asked to post their queries related to DU, CAT and IIMs and Ms. Shweta Arora solved their queries on the Non Engineers portal. She is a B.Com (H) graduate from KMC and scored

Mr. Akshay Kumar Sirsalewala, IIM Kozhikode graduate and certified CA, FRM charter- holder who has cleared all levels of CFA and working in PwC US as Advisory Consultant was the speaker along with Mr. Utkarsh Kumar, IIM Kozhikode merit scholar and an IIT Guwahati graduate. The highlight of the webinar was that some of the guesstimates were solved live in the session. The response was really good with 80+ students attending and solving the guesstimates

The Placement Cell aims to offer informational and placement assistance to students who are looking to start their careers in a short period. With the aim to develop the students, we aim to conduct more webinars and sessions and learn from the speaker's experience and what they have to offer. To emphasize on this, The Placement Cell had planned to conduct a series of webinars - ALUMNI CONNECT. In this initiative, alumni of our college were invited as speakers in the webinars and they shared their journey, career path and experience from which the current batches of students could learn and seek knowledge.

  • July 11, 2020: The Placement Cell conducted its first alumni connect webinar- Understanding Career in Banking‖ with Mr. Sanjeev Mehta, Managing Director, Standard Chartered Bank. Graduated from DDUC (B.Com Hons) batch of 1995, he pursued his career in the banking sector and now has 25+ years of experience in the industry. Students enrolled in good numbers as this is a very relevant industry experience for all students and it was highly interactive.
  • July 19, 2020: We invited Mr. Jagrit Karmani (Batch of 2012) for 'Professional Career in Accountancy' webinar. He is an accounting professional from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Institute of Cost Accountants of India. Working in the management consulting industry for 3+ years now, he excels in Auditing and Taxation. He has also been a part of two Big4 companies. All commerce students and CA students participated actively. He shared industry insights and shared his career path with the students.
  • July 26, 2020: Most students are CAT aspirants be it a commerce student or a science student. For Guidance and Insights of CAT Preparation, The Placement Cell invited Ms. Muskan Choudhary (Batch of 2019) who scored 98.12 percentile in CAT and into IIM Udaipur. She cleared all the new IIMs while working in Ernst & Young as Assurance Associate. Students participated in high numbers as it was very relevant and students could relate to her journey and learn from her experience. She shared her preparation strategies and valuable career insights and also took questions from the attendees making it a very interactive session for the students
  • August 02, 2020: The Placement Cell hosted Mr. Ankur Chaturvedi (Batch of 2003) who enlightened the students about Future Ventures. He has worked in Infosys, American express, HSBC, etc. He is a TEDx Speaker, currently pursuing PhD from Florida based University in meditation and psychoneurotic. The webinar was conducted on New Normal, Emerging Disciplines and Impact of AI on civilization. The speaker engaged the attendees in a few activities introduced by him, making it a very actively participated webinar.
  • August 16, 2020: The Placement Cell conducted a webinar on 'Leveling up Career in Finance' in which we invited Mr. Kaustubh Sharma (Batch of 2018). He is a CFA Level 2 candidate and a finance enthusiast. He has previously worked in KPMG's Advisory practice as an Analyst for two years. He is NSE and BSE certified also. He shared his career path and professional choices he made during his career journey. He shared insightful knowledge about the finance industry and took questions about the same, answering doubts of participant students. He also gave brief information about the stock market which made the webinar very interesting. Students attended in good numbers. The session was very interactive.
  • August 30, 2020: The Placement Cell collaborated with Prep Junction to conduct an Online Mock Test for the final year students. The mock test was free of cost. Prep Junction, an initiative by IIM Alumnus, provides Aptitude Tests, Virtual Mock Group Discussion Sessions, Resume Evaluation and other services. It aims to offer career guidance and training programs to prepare students for their dream career. 140+ students registered for the test and got an idea of how to crack aptitude tests in the recruitment process. Students received a Performance Report and Answer Key after the test.
  • September 16, 2020: The Placement Cell in collaboration with ReVidya gave an opportunity to the students to book their slots for Mock Interviews for free to enhance their interview skills for the competitive corporate world. Revidya is a group of professionals led by BITS Pilani and DCE alumni. They are taking the initiative to support students appearing for placements by assessing their English language skills and preparing them through mock GD and interview sessions on their journey to become successful candidates. 35 students applied for the same.
  • November 25, 2020: The Money Roller Team organized a webinar related to present Economic Conditions and Financial Markets. The following topics were covered

  • March 13, 2021: The Placement Cell of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College in collaboration with GUS Global Services conducted an Online Career Assessment Test INSIGHT for pre final and final year students. The aim was to give the students a chance to make the right career choice due to a plethora of opportunities. 100 students registered for the same and got a detailed analysis report and Unique Individual Development Plan on various parameters.
  • April 05, 2021: The Placement Cell, DDUC has entered into partnership with IBM SkillsBuild and CSRBOX to earn industry-relevant training and a golden opportunity to get lifetime access to a plethora of courses of their choice and that too free of cost. IBM SkillsBuild is a free access digital learning platform with more than 7500 learning activities from Coursera, Code Door, Udemy, Skillsoft, Google, etc. 180+ students registered for the online courses. On successful completion of certain courses, students can earn IBM certified badges and certificates which help them showcase the latest industry relevant skills that they have acquired.
  • May 02, 2021: WealthVerse conducted a webinar on Financial Markets and various Career Opportunities. WealthVerse is a startup with a vision to bridge the gap between the financial industry and college education. It aims at providing hands-on experience in the financial industry before landing into your first job in the finance domain, to crack interviews, or to climb up the career ladder. Mr. Manish Bansal (Founder of WealthVerse Pvt Ltd) was the prominent speaker for the webinar. The session was really interactive as most of the students in our college are interested in financial markets.
  • May 16, 2021: Career Launcher conducted a webinar on Aptitude Building for Competitive Exams. Career Launcher (CL) is Asia's leading education service provider and is led by a team of IIT-IIM alumni, who share a passion for education. Around 50 students attended the session and solved their doubts regarding the competitive exams. The session was very immersive. Mr. Navneet Anand, Head of MBA Prep Group Career Launcher was the speaker.

CAREER COUNSELING AND PLACEMENT CELL (CCPC) 2019-20

Final Placements and Internships - During the academic session 2019-20, organizations like Jaro Education, KPMG Global Services, WIPRO Ltd. E&Y GDS, Chegg India , Vedang Consultancy, TresVista, Genpact, TravClan, Ken research, Royal Bank of Scotland, DeltaX, Infosys, FEIO, Concentrix, L& T, Gartner, D.E Shaw Group visited the campus and offered final placements to 91 students. Final result of few of the companies is yet to come.

More than 50 students got internships in leading companies. Students were also sent to various Job/Internship fairs organized at different other colleges of DU.

  • 24th July, 2019 - The Placement Cell conducted its induction program for the first year students in the college auditorium organized under the Student Activity Board. The program saw a footfall of 300+ first year students from various commerce, science and arts courses.  The program was conducted in 2 parts:
  1. The first part involved the team providing an insight to the corporate world and their recruitment processes, the importance of skill building, internship experience and career development.
  2. The second part focused on audience participation through interactive self-evaluation by the students. The team circulated a handout of a sample draft by a company to give a view of the requirements of the companies in their third year.
  • 26th July, 2019 - AECC Global, a student placement and higher education consultancy organized its seminar for the second and final-year students of the college with focus on educating them about the options of going abroad for masters’ programmes and/or specializations. Three speakers on the company’s behalf presented a  talk about the matter, covering all the options available to students in the major education hubs of the world (Canada, Australia, USA, Ireland, New Zealand and UK) as well as providing students with in-depth information regarding the courses and programmes available in each of these countries. It was a highly interactive and dynamic session which was attended by around 75 students who greatly benefited from the insights provided by the speakers.
  • 27th July, 2019 - An Orientation program and Career Counseling Session was organized by OPTIZONE-THE OPERATIONAL RESEARCH SOCIETY of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College on 27th July, 2019. Career Counseling Session was organized by inviting a team of 7 experts from Cargo Flash Infotech Pvt. Ltd. to make students coherent with a career in Operational Research. The event was led by the Convener of the society, Dr. Veena Jain. All team members of Cargo Flash Infotech Pvt. Ltd. enriched the students with their practical experience of applying Operational Research in real life situation. Students were delighted to know that a good grip on basics was more necessary than the number of degrees they gather.
  • 9th August, 2019 - The seminar on Personality Development was conducted by the Placement Cell in association with Ms. Meenal Narula, a communication coach, soft skill trainer and a certified image consultant. The session involved group activities, most notably the personality trait test at the beginning as the speaker took 4 volunteers from the crowd. The interactive discussions proved to be a very helpful learning experience for the students. The speaker kept the students engaged with audience participation and continuous inputs. The seminar received an overwhelming response with 120+ students from all years and various courses in attendance.
  • 13th August, 2019 - UpperCase Resume, a resume and CV preparation consultation company based in the United States, conducted a seminar in the college about the same. The seminar was headed by Ms. Yasmin. The session focused on providing students with the basics of CV and Resume building as well as educating them about the differences between the two. Topics covered also included:
  1. Basic knowledge (font, spacing, margins etc)
  2. Common resume mistakes
  3. How to make a professional CV/resume look more presentable
  4. Categorizing the information under different heads
  5. Use of ATS in the professional world and how to make an ATS-friendly resume

Around 110 students from various courses attended the seminar and there was a small portion of time towards the end for any doubts/queries from the students.

  • 22nd August, 2019 - INGLU Global, in collaboration with The Placement Cell organised a workshop for the students with a view to educate them on the basics of Group Discussions and Personal Interviews and how to approach them as well as tackling some of the common GD & PI related issues. The session was divided into two parts and covered the following topics:
  1. How to start a group discussion
  2. How to take control of the discussion
  3. The do’s and dont’s of a group discussion
  4. How to approach a personal interview with confidence
  5. Some common questions that usually come up in interviews

The session was conducted by Mr Ansh who is the founder of INGLU Global and has had the experience of overseeing GD-PI training in SRCC and Hansraj and also been a guest speaker in Zakir Husain College and Jesus and Mary College. The seminar was attended by close to 100 students.

 

  • 9th September, 2019 - The Placement Cell conducted group discussion sessions for the third year students. The session was headed by the Placement Cell convener, Dr. Monika Bansal. The session focused on the following:
  1. The intricacies of group discussion.
  2. How to go about in a group discussion
  3. How to score more in a group discussion
  4. This was followed by a mock GD
  5. Constructive suggestions were then given to students after the GD

 

  • 24th September 2019  - The Training and Career Cell of Department of Management Studies, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College organized a workshop on "Careers in management education and required skills" for undergraduate students on 24 September 2019. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Vinay Nangia (Emeritus professor, NSUT Dwarka and IIT Roorkee). He is an illustrious alumnus of BHU having over 45 years of managerial experience in banking, finance and industry.

He shared his global industrial experience and talked about the importance of building a good CV and common mistakes that people make on their resumes. Then the talk stretched to the discussion on future careers in corporates in areas of finance and consultancy. After the session several students asked their queries from the guest regarding higher education, careers in management and entrepreneurship. Overall, it was an interactive and informative session and students had a lot to take away with them.

  • 24th September 2019 - Ashoka University conducted its seminar in collaboration with the Placement Cell to address the students and inform them of their Young India Fellowship program. The seminar aimed to deliver all the information about the program and was divided in the following sections:

1. Faculty and infrastructure
2. Course structure and subject wise breakdown
3. Opportunities and projects
4. Placements

The last part of the presentation focused on fee structure, scholarship opportunities available to students as well as their admission related queries. The seminar was about 50 minutes long and was attended 75+ students.

  • 24th September 2019 - The placement cell in collaboration with International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) conducted a seminar to highlight the career opportunities in the health management sector. 3 speakers from the organization presented a one hour talk covering the various benefits of choosing health management as a career choice. Students from all the streams took active participation in the seminar. It was a highly interactive and dynamic session which was attended by around students who greatly benefited from the insights provided by the speaker. There was a 10-15 minute portion at the end reserved for queries from the audience. There was a footfall of 75+ students and the seminar was 45 minutes long.
  • 13th November 2019 –  A lecture on “Career Opportunities and Challenges after Graduation” was organized on 13th Nov 2019 for students of Arts. Dr. Jagdish Singh, Assistant Professor in Department of Political Science, Satyawati College, University of Delhi apprised the students about various options available to students after graduation.
  • 7th February’ 2020 - The Placement Cell conducted skill building sessions for the placement team. The session was headed by the Core committee consisting of Parth Sethi (President), Keshav Makker (Vice-President), Karan Arora (Vice-President). The session focused on the following:
  1. Time-based case round on the topic- “Creating a new product using 2 existing products”
  2. Giving insights into the powerpoint presentation basics
  3. Judging their presentations and giving on-spot feedback
  4. Differentiating between an in-office presentation and a classroom presentation

This session took place for 2 hours with a brainstorming session on the presentations presented by the fellow members of the placement cell.

  • 10th February’ 2020  - A workshop was conducted on "Cisco Networking Workshop '' in Computer Center by the Computer Science Department. The group of 40 students from BSc.(H) (Comp.Sc.) and B.Sc.(PS/CS)attended the workshop. Mr.Alphish jaswant dhengre, Cisco certified trainer was the speaker for the day. The workshop enlightened the students about the ongoing trends in the field of networks. They were also told about the increasing demands of network operators in the industry. The students were enlightened about the TCP/IP and OSI reference models for networking. Overall the workshop was very fruitful for the students and encouraged them to go for a career in the field of networking.
  • February 13, 2020  - A counseling session was organized for the students of Life Sc. and Botany.

Counselor Ms. Upasana Kaura, who is also associated with Hindustan times group talked about “How to overcome various challenges being faced by students.” It was followed by interactive session, where students freely discussed their problems with the counselor.

  • February 17, 2020 - A seminar on Career opportunities and challenges after graduation for students of Mathematics was conducted by Dr Sudha Arora . The speakers of the seminar were the alumni of the Mathematics Department of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College: Mr. Amit Mittal, Assistant Professor in Mathematics, ARSD College and Mr. Virendra Singh Bisht, Technology Consultant, AON Consulting Ltd. They depicted how mathematics is a language of so many different subjects such as economics, finance, accounting, physics etc. They enlisted various career options such as Research, Actuarial Science, Audit & Accounting, Data Science, Teaching, Investment Banking, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science (MCA), M.Sc and PhD. They described each and every career option enlisted above and also talked about the entrance exams related to every field, placement and salary packages associated with each career option. At the end, they mentioned the rising demands of people mastering in mathematics in public and private sector of India and also other countries like USA, Japan, Israel and UK etc. Students also asked and clarified their doubts regarding which career option is suitable for them.

CAREER COUNSELING AND PLACEMENT CELL (CCPC) 2018-19

During 2018-2019, around 65 students were recruited by some of the leading companies like E&Y, Genpact, Libsys, Dyson, Profielity, TresVista, FIS Global etc. through campus placement drives. More than 50 students got internship in leading companies.
To facilitate students, the placement cell organized workshops, seminars and training sessions rounds by prominent organisations. Students were also sent to various Job/Internship fairs organized at different other colleges of DU.

  1. An orientation programme was held on 27th August 2018 to familiarize the students with placement process.
  2. Seminar by FintaQ, a skill development company on the topic “Entrepreneurship Development” on 1st Feb 2019.
  3. A talk on “How do I plan my Career” by Ms. Tanmaya Goswami, CEO, ACE Solution on 19 Jan 2019.
  4. A career counseling session on “Start up being a fad/trend setter” by Ms. Philomena Joseph and Ms. Farheen Khan from St. Xavier Banglore on 18th Feb 2019.

Report for 2017-2018

 

  • During 2017-2018, around 70 students were recruited by some leading companies like Vardhman Recruiters, Concentrix, S&P Global, Royal Bank of Scotland, FIS Global through campus placement drives. 
  • September 14, 2017: To facilitate students, the placement cell organized workshops and training sessions. A talk of Anavi Learning on 'Jobs and the Skills of the Future' by Mr. Abhishek Singhal (an alumnus of IIT Delhi, IIM Lucknow, MIT Sloan and Harvard Law School) was organized in association with department of management studies. More than 80 students attended the talk. Given the context of increased automation, driverless cars, teller-less banks, worker-less factories and people less offices, the key skills required from the future job-scenario perspective and how higher education can help in creating challenging careers was discussed. 
  • November 9, 2017: With a belief to give back to the society, Social Internship Conclave was organized in association with department of management studies. Around 10 NGOs including Nasscom, Young Association, Youth for Sewa, Action Aid, Hope Initiative, Little Umbrella, Pukaar participated in the conclave and offered 181 winter internships to students to work for the welfare of society. 
  • Hepta Contino Inc (Education Consultants) conducted a session on education in Ireland. Around 40 students attended the session by Mr. John Korah Chandy and Ms. Nandini Dash.
  • February 20, 2018: In order to motivate the students to become entrepreneurs, a workshop was organized which was attended by more than 90 students. The resource person included: Dr. Lakshmi Devi, formerly principal, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences; Prof. S K Palhan from Great Lakes Institute of Management and Mr. Arvind Thanvi, Chief mentor, Moinee Foundation 
  • February 26, 2018: A workshop on ‘Soft skills’ was organized in which Mr. Manish Raj Sharma from MRS training services conducted it for 60 students to develop skill sets among students so that they can have a positive attitude towards life and various situations. 

Report for 2016-2017

 

  • During 2016-2017, around 116 students were recruited by some of the leading companies like E & Y INDIA ,Concentrix, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts,Bajaj Capital, Max Healthcare, Jaro Education, Career Marshall,RBS,Career Moves, AON Hewitt (recruited by NIIT) etc.
  • The students also got selected for on-campus internships. A total of 18 students were selected by IDBI Federal Life Insurance Ltd. Apart from this, several companies like Sociowash, Internshala Nation Wide Online Contest, Vebbler, Indian Economists, ASMAT, University Express, Scraplabs fellowship programme, Sportido, Helpiez, Saviours ,NGO, IDBI Federal Life Insurance Ltd. (18 students selected), . Roposso, City Furnish, Breakthrough, Archon, Chalkstreet, Sportspal, Feeding India, Oyo Rooms, Shashwank Travels have invited students for off-campus internships.
  • To facilitate students, the placement cell organized workshops, seminars and training session rounds by prominent organisations like Eptitude Case Study Contest, Times Pro Seminar, IMS Seminar etc
  • This year, the Cell has created two major documents, College Brochure and a Student Docket.The College Brochure containing information about strength of our college, courses taught, achievements and facilities provided was sent to every company presently visiting our college for recruitment. A Student Docket functioning as a how-to guide for students contains important articles and tips for interviews, group discussions and soft skills etc.

During 2015-2016, around 70 students were recruited by some of the leading companies like Wipro, Ernst and Young, ICICI Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland and Bajaj Capital through campus placement drives.

The students also got selected for on-campus internships.A total of 18 students were selected by Smartex, Green Thumbs and Aditya Birla. Apart from this, several companies like BlueGape, Greymeter, Zomato food Blogger, Social Media Interns, Stint Mint Campus Ambassador Program, Instints, Rebanko.com, IMS, Sports and Fitness Pvt. Ltd, Spoon University, Wipro Earthian, Josh Talks, Feeding India, Tailshift, Walk Leaders, Talent4Assure and Teach for India have invited students for off-campus internships.

​To facilitate students, the placement cell organized workshops and training sessionrounds by prominentorganisations like TCS, Catalyst, Bajaj Capital,Times Pro, Teach for India and Eptitude.

Report for 2014-2015

On February 11, 2015, Genpact hired 23 students, On January 28, 2015 - Axis Risk Consultancy visited our campus and selected 06 students, On January 08, 2015 – WIPRO Wista visited our campus and selected 16 students, On January 13, 2015 – TCS visited our campus and selected 32 students, On November 05, 2014 - E-Age Company visited our campus and hired 13 students, On November 07, 2014 - Smartican visited our campus and hired 13 students, On November 03, 2014 by HIKE Placement agency visited our campus and shortlisted 24 students. CCPC and National Academy of Sciences, India (Delhi Chapter) jointly organized Professor Meghnad Saha Memorial Award Lecture by Professor Bimla Buti on January 21, 2015 which was attended by over 150 students and faculty members.

Report for 2013-2014

222 and 235 students of our college registered for Placement and Internship programmes of Central Placement Cell (CPC), University of Delhi for the year 2013-2014. During July 2013 to February 2014, four companies visited college for recruitment – LIBSYS (October 29, 2013) selected 01 student,  AON HEWITT (January 15, 2014) hired 02 students, GENPACT (January 16, 2014) hired 28 students, TCS (January 23, 2014) hired 16 students and PROTIVITY (February 04, 2014) hired 04 students.
