National Science Day - February 28, 2017
On February 28, 2017 i.e. National Science Day, a Technical Lecture was organized on “Satellite Communication Trends” which was delivered by Shri Ved Prakash Sandlas, Mentor, ITM University, Gurgaon; Formerly Director General, Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering (AIAE); Formerly Director General Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology (AISST).
 
One day lecture-cum-hands on Workshop on "Regulation of Lac Operon in Prokaryotes"

Science Foundation committee members - Dr. Sudhir Verma, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Dr. Shailly Anand, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology and Dr. Priya Goel, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology alongwith faculty members of Department of Zoology organized a one day lecture-cum-hands on Workshop on "Regulation of Lac Operon in Prokaryotes" on March 07, 2017. It started with an inaugural lecture by Prof. Madan Mohan Chaturvedi, Head, Dept of Zoology, University of Delhi on the topic "Understanding the design of Living Systems". Nearly 100 science students and many teachers from different disciplines attended the lecture and interacted with the speaker. The lecture helped in converging all science students under one umbrella. The workshop on "Regulation of Lac Operon in Prokaryotes" was attended by 31 undergraduate Zoology students from all the three semesters.
 
 
One Day Industry-Institute Workshop on SENSENuts which was jointly organized by the committee and EIGEN Technologies Pvt Ltd. 
On March 09, 2017 – Dr. Poonam Kasturi, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics and committee member coordinated One Day Industry-Institute Workshop on SENSENuts which was jointly organized by the committee and EIGEN Technologies Pvt Ltd. The workshop was attended by over 50 students covering application of Radio Module, USB Gateway Module; Ethernet Gateway Module; GAP Sensor  Module; HTP Sensor  Module; CO /CO2 Sensor Module and SENSEnuts ToolChain which provides  the  user  with  all  the  software  support  required  for  developing  TM applications  on/for  SENSEnuts WSN  Platform  viewing  live  data  and  analysis.
 
Two Days Workshop on Linux  Foundation Training 
March 29-30, 2017
During March 29-30, 2017, two Days Workshop on Linux  Foundation  Training was organized by science foundation committee members i.e Ms. Shweta Wadhera, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Dr. Sujata Khatri, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science alongwith faculty members of computer science department i.e. Mr. Ankit Rajpal and Mr. Raj Kumar.  The workshop had both theoretical and hands-on sessions covering Linux Fundamentals - Introduction to Linux Operating System, Linux  installation, Linux  Vs  Windows ; Getting  Started - Must know  Linux  Commands, File permissions  in Linux; Advance  stuff - Redirection  in Linux, Linux  Pipes , Grep  and  sort  commands, Linux- regular  expressions; Let’s  Code - Introduction to  Shell  Scripting, Introduction to System  call Implementation. The workshop was attended by 40 students of physical science students of our college.

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, FASc, FNASc, FAMS, FNA, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research delivered her Keynote Address followed by Professor Paramjit Khurana, FNA, FASc, FNASc, FNAAS, FTWAS, University of Delhi who delivered her talk on “Plant Genomics: Implications for Crop Improvement”. Prof. Vani Brahmachari, FNA, FNASc, Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research, Univ. of Delhi gave her talk on “The importance of being Resourceful  while you are Resource-poor: A lesson from biological systems”; Dr Renu Khanna-Chopra, FNA, FNASc, FNAAS, National Fellow, IARI, New Delhi enlightened audience on the topic “Physiological and molecular basis of drought resistance in plants ”. On second day, Dr. Ashima Anand, FNA, FAMS(I), FTWAS, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Inst., University of Delhi gave her talk on “The mountain ahead has to be climbed” followed by talk on “Tryst with one health: understanding plant immunity using integrative omics” by Dr. Subhra Chakraborty, FNASc, FNAAS, FASc, National Institute of Plant Genome Research. Prof. R. Madhubala, FNAMS., F.N.A.Sc., F.A.Sc., F.N.A., FTWAS, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi addressed the issue of “Remedies and control measures for Kala-azar, a major endemic disease and public health problem in India: the Journey So Far”; Professor Sneha Sudha Komath, School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi gave her talk on “The Challenges and Charms of a Career in Science: A Gender Perspective ” and Professor Meenu Kapoor, FNASc, Univ. School of Biotechnology, Guru Gobind Singh IP Univ. New Delhi delivered her talk on “Evolutionary Insights into Chromomethylase Structure and Function in Streptophytes”. There was also a panel Discussion on “Women in Science will enrich Science” by Professor Bimla Buti, FNA, FTWAS, FNASc and Dr. Pratibha Jolly, Principal, Miranda House, University of Delhi, New Delhi
 
Third Lecture Workshop on Women in Science: A Career in Science

The workshop had four talks. Professor Punam Bedi, Department of Computer Science, University of Delhi delivered talk on “Cyber Security: An Introduction”; Dr. Hema Banati, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Dyal Singh College discussed “Nature inspired Computing”; Ms. Priti Jagwani, Assistant professor, Dept. of Computer Science, Aryabhatta College, University of Delhi apprised the audience about “Location Privacy Risk – Side Effect of Technological Proliferation” and the final talk was on “Technical Aspects of Internet in the Next Decade” by Dr. Shefali S. Dash, Former Director General National Informatics Centre, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India. The Workshop was attended by over 250 students and faculty members.

Professor Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary to the Government of India, Dept. of Science and Technology gave his keynote address followed by talk on “Emerging Physics and Devices with Atomic Membranes” by Dr. Arindam Ghosh, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Dr. Suvendra N. Bhattacharyya, Swarna Jayanti Fellow, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata gave his talk on “Modern biology: a journey towards molecular understanding of life” followed by talk on “Anion Trapping by Molecular capsule and Its Applications towards Environmental and Health Related Problems” by Prof. Pradyut Ghosh, Dept. of Chemistry, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata. On second day first talk on “Applications of Mathematics in Health Sector, Atmosphere and air pollution” was delivered by Professor Maithili Sharan, JC Bose National Fellow, Centre for Atmospheric Sciences, IIT Delhi followed by talk on “Touching the Untouchables -- Haptics Technology at Work” by Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT-Bombay, Powai, Mumbai. Professor Shanthi Pavan, Department of Electrical Engg, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai  gave his talk on “Measuring a millimeter with a meter scale, or, the magic of Delta-Sigma data conversion” and the last talk was delivered by Professor Jayant R. Haritsa, Senior Professor, Department of Computational and Data Sciences (CDS), IISc on  “The Latent Power of Absurd Ideas”.
 
Third One Day Workshop on VHDL programming and Digital Circuit Designing was organized during September 26-27, 2017 by Dr. Poonam Kasturi, Convener-Workshop.
 
Technical Lecture - October 10, 2017
Professor Ashok Bhatnagar, FNASc, Department of Botany, University of Delhi delivered talk on “Are We Humans Disturbing the Private Life of Plants?” and Professor Subhash C Chaturvedi, FASc, FNASc, Visiting Professor, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science Education, & Research, Bhopal delivered his talk on “Notions of States and Measurements in Classical and Quantum Mechanics: An Elementary Introduction to Quantum Information Theory”
 
Technical Lecture- November 03, 2017
Professor Devesh K Sinha, Dean of Colleges  & Professor of Oceanography and Marine Geology, Department of Geology, Centre of Advanced Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi gave technical talk on “Ocean-Climate Connection, Climate Change through Geological Past: Lessons for future”. More than 450 students and faculty members attending the talk.

The Inaugural lectures were jointly organized with The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) on February 17, 2016. Dr. (Mrs.) Manju Sharma, Padma Bhushan Distinguished Women Scientist Chair, NASI, Allahabad delivered invited talk on “Women in Science” and Dr. B.P. Pal Memorial Lecture on “A molecular framework of light control of plant development” was delivered by Prof Jitendra P. Khurana, FNA, FASc, FNASc, FNAAS, FTWAS, JC Bose National Fellow (DST), Currently Director-University of Delhi South Campus and Interim Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi. Presidential Address was delivered by Professor Akhilesh Kumar Tyagi, FNA, FNASc, FNAAS, FASc, FTWAS, Director, National Institute of Plant Genome Research and President-National Academy of Science India (NASI), Allahabad.
 
During February 08-12, 2016, Hands-on-Workshop on the Introduction and Applications of UV-Visible Absorption Spectroscopy was organized in which over 90 students of our college participated. The workshop was conducted by science foundation committee members i.e. Dr. Chetna Angrish, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry; Dr. Reema Chhabra, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry; Dr. Jyoti, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Sudhir Verma, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology.
 
During February 22-23, 2016, Two-Days Hands-on Workshop on VLSI and DSP was carried out with Scientech Technologies Pvt. Ltd. at Research Centre of the college which was attended by over 20 students of B. Tech Electronics of our college.
 
On February 29, 2016 i.e. on the occasion of National Science Day, a technical lecture was organized on the topic “Sound of gravity - Ripples in the space-time geometry” which was delivered by Professor Patrick Das Gupta, Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi, New Delhi. 
 
On February 29, 2016, a technical visit was organized by Dr. Priya Goel, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology to National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), Delhi for students to attend Professor R. C. Gupta Endowment History of Science Award Lecture. Over 50 students of our college including science foundation 
 
On April 04, 2016, Technical talk on "Silicon Nanodevices: Interface Physics and Analysis Challenges" was delivered by Dr. M. K. Radhakrishnan, Vice President of Regions and Chapters, IEEE Electron Devices Society and Director of NanoRel Technical Consultants Singapore.
